"I am proud to have signed the American’s for Tax Reform pledge that if elected to Congress, I will oppose raising taxes on the American people." -Tom
About Tom Casperson
Tom Casperson was born and raised here in Northern Michigan and spent 27 years working in the log trucking business his grandfather started. For twelve of those years, he ran the business and spent time on the Board of Michigan Association of Timber when a trucking accident claimed the life of a young mother and her toddler. Following the accident, Tom and his colleagues devised a safer way to transport timber so that the tragedy that killed Sigfred and Shayla Jauquet would not be repeated. The State of Michigan would not license the design despite the obvious safety benefits.
Taking that issue on in Lansing was what made Tom decide to run for the state house. He was elected in 2002 and got the job done. In 2010 he ran for the State Senate and was the first Republican elected to serve the 38th Senate District.
For eleven years, Tom has represented Northern Michigan’s priorities in Lansing. Now he’s ready to be Northern Michigan’s Voice.
Casperson and his wife Diane, whom he married in 1982, reside in Escanaba with two of their four children, Hillary and Dane. Their son Tom and his wife, Renee, live in Delta County. Their daughter Ashley and her husband, Chan, who serves in the US Navy, live in Hawaii, with their daughter, Oaklyn.
"Together, not only will we defeat the Democrats in November, we will get Washington to listen!" -Tom
